Happy (?) Halloween

So I'll just jump to the chase...Campbell did NOT have a "Happy" Halloween. He had tantrum after tantrum refusing to go trick-or-treating and refusing the candy when I forced him to go (I thought he would realize how much fun it was after a door or two) and claimed that he would throw all the candy he had gotten at the "trunk-or-treat" in the trash. It was very tiring...and sad because we were at his friend's Halloween birthday party. We took him home early and decided to consider ourselves lucky to not have a ton of candy around the house.

But there were a lot of fun Halloween times before the dreaded "Halloween Night Tantrum":

The Pumpkin patch (Isla wasn't crazy about this first photo)

The Halloween party and costume parade at school.

Pumpkin carving (much thanks to Grandma & Grandpa Reese for sending the pumpkins)

And after the tantrum fiasco, we forced Campbell to stop by another friend's open house (because we told them we would go.) They were so sweet that they won him over and he was able to end the night in a good mood (and with at least a little bit of candy). Here's Isla raiding the candy bowl. (And, no, those aren't missionary Halloween costumes...they were real missionaries.)

And a tired Isla and Campbell at the end of the night.

The next morning Campbell told me that he was glad Halloween was over. I have a strong suspicion that all the fuss was because some of the trunk or treat cars were decorated a little too scarily for him. He was pretty much over the scary stuff and was even refusing to watch the Halloween Blue's Clues. Not Campbell's most favorite holiday I suppose.

And finally a random pic of Isla wearing an Ewok hat about a month ago. So cute! And such a great pic of the fang!

At least Isla likes Halloween candy.

That's rough. Thor cried and cried when we tried to get him out of his stroller at the first trick-or-treat stop. I've never liked Halloween much, either, though...

Why do I keep thinking these tantrums are funny? Probably because I can so relate ;-) We haven't had a "Dreaded Halloween Night Tantrum" but we've had plenty of others. Your kids are darling. That Isla in the candy is way too cute!
