And yes, we ARE expecting a new baby...and, yes, Campbell's convinced it's a sister. I'm not sure if it's a preference or a premonition. Either way, it really is a baby - here's the proof (awwww, so cute).
When I got this ultrasound today the technician claimed she can often tell the sex at 13 weeks...but looking as carefully as she could, she declared that she couldn't tell. (See, it's ALWAYS a surprise, even when you find out as early as possible.)So, if this brings up a few more questions:
-"she's" due January 9th or 6th - but we're just going to start saying December 31st.
-I've had morning sickness, but it was completely overshadowed by the whole pneumonia thing. So I really can honestly say I feel a million times better. Perhaps I should put my chest x-ray up too. It shows that I still have pneumonia, albeit greatly reduced. It's just a little too big to scan.
-Which brings me to another question -- they MADE me get the x-rays. And each Doc (the pulmonologist, the radiologist, my OB and my brother) were adamant that the radiation (that wouldn't get near the baby anyway because of the lead shield) wasn't enough to harm the baby and that the risks of pulmonary problems were far greater than the risk of radiation. This last ultrasound was in hi-def to make sure that there we're no "problems." I didn't want broadcast the big news on the blog until I was given the all clear, so to speak.
In other news...this is a BIG WEEK at the Madsen home. We're celebrating Campbell's birthday on Thursday with a construction truck cake and pinata, then we're all looking forward to the 4th of July. I'm sure Campbell is going to absolutely FREAK OUT when he sees and hears the fireworks...but by then it will be too late. As of now, he's really looking forward to it. But we're not so much looking forward to the 5th of July when Ammon heads out to sea again. :-(
(If we could squeeze potty training in there, I'd be thrilled, but I'm not holding my breath! :-)

Congratulations! I'm curious whether Campbell's premonition will turn out to be right.
Congrats! We're really excited for you guys.
Kristen!!!!Awesome news! I'm so happy for you.
maybe it is because he loved baby mckenzie so much that he wants a little sister :) remember the whole side hug?? ha ha! We are SO excited for you guys! Can't wait to see you in a couple weeks!
Yay!!! I think Spencer was gung ho for a brother even before we found out it was a boy, so maybe Campbell knows a little something....hmmm. Good luck with the party, the fireworks, the bon voyage :( See you soon!
Yeah! Yeah!! Yeah!!!
THAT IS SOOOOO AWESOME!!!!! Congrats to you two!!
Congrats to you guys! Can't wait to read about Baby's progress (and Campbell's reactions to the different phases of development).
And when dealing with morning sickness represents an IMPROVEMENT from your previous state of health, you know you've had it bad! Glad you're feeling (relatively) better.
Congratulations Kristin!!!
Great news!!!
