We are having so much fun getting in the Christmas spirit here at the Madsen household. Campbell is almost 2 1/2 - the perfect age for really getting into Christmas for the first time. He LOVES Christmas songs, Christmas lights, and, of course, talking about Christmas presents.

We celebrated our anniversity with season passes to Disneyland and each of us became die-hard Disneyland junkies in our own way!
July brought the happy events of Campbell's 2nd birthday and Ben and Christy's wedding. We ushered in the terrible twos with a beach ball party Campbell kept us in stitches with the passion with which he blew out the candle.
We returned to Utah for the wedding and had a great time at the wedding festivities and were even able to leave Campbell with Grandma & Grandpa for a few days and spend a little time on our own - we slept in, stayed out late and skipped nap time...but it only lasted a precious couple of days. We also squeezed in Campbell's first camping trip!
July also brought the sad news of my Dad's Multiple Myloma diagnosis. His health declined very quickly and he passed away in September. It was a very sad time, but we were able to share a lot of time with friends and family who came from all over.
With fall came Campbell's first real awareness of "holidays." We spent a lot of time taking, singing songs and finding books about Halloween and Thanksgiving. (Yes... there are songs.) Although he was wary of the Lion costume we chose for him, he eventually donned it and LOVED being a lion.
Ammon went out to sea for the 2nd time this year on November 1st and didn't come back until December. The weather didn't agree with them and they returned with the rocket...but, as you've seen, it could be much worse. ;-) Campbell and I were VERY happy to have him back...and were are, at this moment, still happily making up for a lost month. (Couldn't get a picture of us with our Christmas tree WITHOUT Campbell's fingers in my mouth.)
We wish you all a very Happy Christmas from the California Madsens!

This year has had its ups and downs and thinking about the year in review is giving us a great opportunity to count our blessings. We started the year with a bang...literally. If you never saw the video of Ammon's first launch of the year...we'll, you need to check it out (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eMG2SBwIcrM). It's too bad that Sea Launch wasn't able to launch a rocket this year but we certainly enjoyed the rare luxory of having Ammon home for 9 straight months! We were able to enjoy alot of family time, visits from friends and family and trips to the beach, zoo and Disneyland.

I'm still really enjoying serving in the Primary Presidency. I can't believe how much fun Primary is! I spent so much time in Wards without Primarys that I never new that it's the funnest place in the church! Campbell is giving the Nursery a run for their money...luckily this year he had the best Nursery Leader to ever accept the position.
We wish you all a very Happy Christmas from the California Madsens!

What a year.... I love that you posted Spencer and Campbell's brokeback mountain picture again. ;) Isn't it so much fun to see Campbell really getting into the holidays? As difficult as the terrible two's can be sometimes, it's such a joy seeing the world through their eyes. We will sure miss seeing you this Christmas. Have a great (warm) holiday! (If only we could all sit on Santa's lap wearing shorts...)
What a great year end summary. Very cute Santa pictures.
I love being able to keep up with you all. Campbell couldn't be any cuter. Miss you!
The picture of Campbell with Santa is totally cracking me up. For some reason (I think it's the plaid shorts) it just reminds me of the 70's. Luckily, he's a lot cuter than I was at that age!
I'm so excited to have stumbled onto your blog--what a year you have had. Campbell is so cute! Will enjoy checking in from time to time!
what in the world? tell me that the youtube video isn't really ammon's launch...
