Birthday Girl

She was our tiny baby doll...

And our 1 year old whipper snapper...

....

And now she's TWO!

Whenever we talked about her birthday she would nod her head and say "bumblebee cake." So all I could figure is that I had to make a cake with a bumble bee. Well, I came up with garden idea with a bumblebee hovering over. And, thankfully, she was totally satisfied that she had her "bumblebee cake."

On her actual birthday we had our neighbors over for some cupcakes:

And then celebrated again with my cousins at Grandma Mayer's:

And then the lucky girl got to celebrate AGAIN when some new friends came over...this time with jello:

And then she spent a week asking when it could be her birthday again. Ahh, it's hard to come off the birthday high.

Things we love to hear Isla say:

"Chummy" (it's yummy)
"Fingertails" (fingernails)
"Oh dear"
"Thanks Dada"
"I-ya too!" Whenever Campbell says something like "look at the paper airplane I made" Isla always has to claim it too. "I-ya paper airplane too, Mama."
"Bucks" (buckles)
The ABC song. For LMNOP she says "la la la la P"
Whenever I count down (ie "Campbell I need you downstairs in 5 seconds 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) she always says "Blastoff"

Yes...I must add a few more:
She's been saying "no way" for a year now. It's just so much cuter than the classic "no."
"Wats an wats" (Lots and lots which basically means "more")

Things we love about Isla:

Loves to clean up
Loves to help (cooking, pushing strollers, carrying groceries, etc)
Loves her brothers - to copy Campbell and to take care of Cooper
A strong sense of what is fair (saves something for Campbell even when he's at school)
She's a Daddy's girl

Things that keep us on our toes:

She can climb in, over, or around anything (especially her crib)
Her sweet tooth (like Mom)
Her affinity for sitting on babies

...

Funny story. At her 2 year old check up the Dr pointed to a poster on the wall and asked her to name the characters: Mickey, Pluto, Goofy and Minny. Only for Minny she said "Daisy." He proceeded to give her a (very kindly) mini-lecture that Minny is a Mouse and Daisy is a duck and that Daisy is Donald's girlfriend, not Mickey's. I guess the 2 year old Mickey Mouse knowledge requirements are a little stricter these days. ;-)

We love that little Isla! Isn't it great how 2 yr olds appreciate the little things... like bumblebee cupcakes? Good job, mom. :)

I think you forgot her saying "No way" or has she given that up?
