"Crazy world" "Huh...someone otta sell tickets"

The quote's from Raising Arizona. But I thought it applied to raising the Madsens. I was feeling a wee bit nostalgic and thought I'd look back at the year...

We brought home a new baby (technically in 2008...the last day in 2008)
Grandma Madsen came to help...and brought paper airplanes. And so began the airplane obsession (an entire year later and the passion has not waned a bit).
...........

Isla was blessed and received a lot of visitors...one of whom helped Campbell hand feed a "wild" squirrel.
........

Ammon left on his LAST launch.

And the rest of us got to visit new cousin Annie and her family. (Uh, Isla is only 4 weeks older...in fact, exactly 4 weeks older.)

Campbell grew peas in his garden and Isla loved zucchini (that lasted about a month).
........

Campbell turned 4! (And had an airplane birthday party, of course.)

We visited the Madsen's in Utah and Isla grew to love her cousins while Campbell...well, Campbell had to enter anger management classes after the trip. And, of course, more airplanes.
......

Campbell miraculously remembered how to swim and became my little fish...flying fish.

Campbell got new glasses and Isla got new teeth...lots of new teeth!
..............

Sea Launch had "issues" and had to say goodbye to...let's see...about 93% of its staff. ...And Ammon got a 2 month paid vacation. So we got a new kitchen! (And he eventually got a new job with Boeing Satellite Systems)
...............

Campbell decided he HATES Halloween...while Isla decided that she LOVES it.

And we got to go to Hawaii with with Mayer/Sheppert's for Thanksgiving. Highly recommended!

This year Campbell actually saw the benefits of talking to Santa.

And he actually visited us on Christmas day. Campbell left him a personally written letter and Santa was very willing to leave his new bike in California...but still come to Utah and fill his stocking. Isla knew EXACTLY which stocking was hers.

And the entire Madsen family was together for Christmas. Quite a feat with 7 kids! I guess new cousin Hunter gets the credit.

And the year came full circle when we had a birthday party for Isla. (Yes it's a shoe...she LOVES shoes...and not necessarily to wear.)

Sweet innocent thing doesn't know what she's in for! Neither do we. Our biggest news of the year is that Isla's getting a little brother in June!

Happy New Year!

the boys certainly dominate in the madsen family. and i love the look on cam's face in the family picture. you can tell he really wanted to be there. also, "rachel. rachel. rachel....where's rachel?"

Baby brothers are the coolest. Just ask Spencer, who is torturing his even as we speak.
