Sigh, it's that time again. Time to send off the Sea Launch command ship with Ammon on board. They're finally launching the Italian satellite that took him to France & Italy a few times in the last year.Speaking of the Italians...
At the farewell event one of the Italians came up to me and said (with a thick Italian accent) "Ahhh, this is nothing...I once had to leave my wife for one year and six months." (Yikes, but I do already know that in this business three weeks is a good deal.) And then he added that at another time when he was away for work he came home for the weekend when his wife had their baby then went back the day after the birth. (Ok, ok...let's not start talking crazy here.) And when Campbell had a freak out about something he smiled and told me that his 3 year old is just the same "no matter what country, the children are all the same." (So at least Campbell is normal to a crazy Italian.)
OK, Ammon looks a little too happy for the situation - especially when you look at Isla's face - but they really are a cute pair. And she was proudly showing off (or chewing on) a beautiful afgan made by her Auntie Rachel.
And with a final hug of his babies, he was off.Campbell was absolutely fascinated to watch the boat pull away. He couldn't have cared less that his Dad was on the boat...he just loved watching the pilot ship boss the giant command ship around.

That must be one tasty blanket. ;) She's so cute!
Condolences on your single parenthood. Thank goodness it's only 3 weeks. (Only?? But holy crap, 18 months... I would die.)
