The funny part was that I had news radio on at the time. It was amusing to hear the host say "it seems that we are experiencing an earthquake...and it's still shaking...and yes, we're still experiencing an earthquake...and the earth is still shaking..." Ahhh, now that's good reporting. And I was on the phone with my Mom so I could say, "Mom, do you feel an earthquake too?" Mom: "Yes, I feel it too...oh my, I have roofers on my roof." We got off the phone when it ended to check our houses and our roofers. The phone lines went dead soon after - so I was glad I already knew everything in SM was ok (well, I was curious about the roofers, but later found out that they're pretty good at sticking to a roof).
Campbell was playing with marbles that starting rolling all over the floor. He was absolutely stunned. He couldn't even conceive of what was happening. I had to explain it to him several times before he started to understand...then, of course, he got scared.
Out on Terminal Island Ammon felt the quake for much longer than we did (imagine a waterbed).
And finally, no damage what so ever. Only the lava lamp fell from it's perch...I always thought it was a precarious perch anyway. It's moved now.
Now it's time to re-assess our food storage and emergency preparedness kits. Nothing like a little wake up call.
