Tuesday: Campbell throws up in the car. Camera breaks.
Wednesday Morning: On a winding mountain pass we come across a fallen tree blocking all lanes of the road. Hmmm do waste hours backtracking and taking a different route? Of course not! We all hopped out of the car and joined forces with the inhabitants of another stopped car breaking branches off of the freshly fallen tree. We cleared a path on the shoulder just big enough to squeeze through. Quite an adventure!
Wednesday Evening: We had hoped to have a babysitter for Campbell during the wedding...but since the 24 hour drop in center wouldn't take a little boy with a runny nose...and the nanny service was going to cost more than $100, Campbell got to the to the wedding. He decided to start screaming just as the bride began her decent down the aisle. I had to rush him out to sit in the stairwell...and didn't get to see the wedding we had driven 8 hours for. ("Mommy I need it to be OVER.") Ammon was a groomsman and got to hang out with his buddies. The reception was much the same, Campbell was incredible grouchy and I had to take him home early. Ammon stayed to sing a few songs.
Thursday: Thursday was a great day. We explored the beautiful scenery and found some snow to sled on. McAmmonGuyver was able to fashion a sled from our car mat and Campbell absolutely LOVED the snow. Luckily our friends, the Singletons (also out for the wedding), had a camera and shared some pics.
We also had a great dinner with the Singletons and Cam and his new wife Becky.
Friday Morning: Campbell, innocently playing in our fabulous private yard, throws a giant rock over the fence and...smashes our windshied. I know it's hard to believe that a 2 year old can smash a windshild...but IT HAPPENED! I'm sure there are still a few glass pieces on the ground there. I heard the car alarm and looked to see Campbell peering between the wooden panels of the fence. Ammon turned a few shades of purple...but I was able to convince him that we couldn't leave Campbell there in Lake Tahoe. Ammon got to spend the rest of the day driving out to Carson City (to the only place that could fix it immediately) and waiting for the glue on the new windshield to cure. (He can tell you stories about trying to cure boredom by going for a walk - 6.5 miles! ...at least he got to lose a little money at a casino.)
Friday Evening: We had our friends over for a bbq and all was great...until Campbell tripped and imbedded his front teeth into his bottom lip. You've never seen a sadder bottom lip.
Saturday Morning: We pack up and head out. We decided to pay a quick visit to the Sacramento Zoo. Back on the road, Campbell starts crying, complaining of his tummy and informing us that he's going to throw up again. This time we took him seriously and pulled over. Seeing as we still had 5 hours of driving, we re-arranged the car so that I could sit next to Campbell for the rest of the trip. Campbell did much better, but I, as it turns out, couldn't let my guard down without getting a sound cup to the face or hair pull. I'm sure this is why we keep small children strapped in the back seat so securely.
Saturday Evening: We stumbled in the door of our house and passed out.
Oh...and to address my blog from a few weeks ago - Campbell slept very well in the pack 'n' play. He had to sleep curved and was able to step out of it at his whim, but he much preferred it to the big boy bed.

What a week! I can't imagine anything else happening. Sometimes after a vacation you need a vacation just to relax.
It was so much fun being able to see you guys. I hope things calm down just a bit this week.
I think my husband would definitely have lost it over the broken windshield. Crazy!!
I know I would have lost it over the broken windshield. Spencer would be left in the mountains to be raised by wolves. I think that's why we all have a mom. It's to keep us from being left on the side of a road somewhere to fend for ourselves.
Here's to hoping you start with a string of better luck.
At least the sledding was fun.... :)
The wedding screaming story reminds me of Ryan's graduation. Somehow they always find just the right moment to express themselves. LOUDLY.
wow, what do you say to that :) Looks like you have a pitcher on your hands! I am surprised you lived through all that and remained sane enough to blog about it :)
Can't wait to see you guys in July!!
Stop it. You're scaring me. Maybe we can survive if we wrap Kate up in bubble wrap and tape for the next 5 years . . .
Thanks for helping us to not miss our kids while in Tahoe.
