The Coolest Fieldtrip EVER

Campbell and I took what I thought was the coolest field trip ever (thus the title) with his pre-school class today. I just HAD to post the pics!

Campbell has been anxiously awaiting this day -- we got to visit the HB Police Heliport. We've been talking about it a lot lately and he was so excited that he put his own shoes on. Here's a pic of his whole class standing in front of one of the helicopters...well, almost the whole class. Turns out that no matter how excited you are, sometimes helicopters are just plain scary.

Here's how he felt when we tried to "make" him sit in the helicopter. Poor guy, how mean does your Mom have to be to try to put you in the seat of a real police helicopter. He practically yanked my ponytail off during the rest of the visit because he was so scared -- he wouldn't let go until I threatened to put him down. He was one of only two kids that wouldn't sit in the Helicopter...my oh my - hard to believe that his Dad just launched a rocket yesterday.

Here's a pic of the super-studly officer/pilot who told the kids all about the helicopter, his uniform and the job, then took a picture with every single one of them...oh, except Campbell.

He then flew the helicopter around for us sounding the sirens, flashing the lights and doing all sorts of tricks. It was INCREDIBLE. He did circles, waved it side to side, flew it as fast as it can go, dove down into the ravine then charged us. I wish I could have caught some better tricks on camera, but I was mesmerized - it was TOO COOL. (Yes, I enjoyed it much more than Campbell.)

**You may also notice the fire hose spraying in the background. That's the HB fireman training ground, so, yes, we even got to see the firemen spraying down practice structures on the way in and out. Also very cool.

That looks pretty fun. Maybe Ammon should have been a helicopter pilot rather than a rocket scientist. Somehow "studly rocket scientist" just doesn't sound right.

Spencer wore his helicopter shirt today in honor of your field trip. He thought that maybe if Campbell had a cool helicopter shirt to wear, he probably still would have been afraid.

Kristin--that IS the coolest field trip EVER! Wow. My oldest (Andrew) doesn't give into peer pressure either. He decides what he is going to do and when, regardless of what the group is doing ;-) Love the individuality.
